Elliot Park Neighbor Support Fund
THANK YOU, neighbors! So far, we've raised over $12,631 (including a very generous recent $5,000 anonymous donation!) to support at least 37 neighbors with small individual financial help grants, and delivered over 468 bags of groceries and supplies, and served another 481 households at our seven extra pop-up food distribution events, throughout the dark days of "Operation Metro Surge" and its aftermath.
We also provided many of these neighbors with caring support and other community resource connection.
While the immediate harm of the federal enforcement surge has abated, the deep and serious direct impacts on our neighbors are lasting. We recognize both that the financial impacts caused by Operation Metro Surge continue for many; and that Operation Metro Surge only worsened existing layers of financial hardships for many neighbors, including food and housing insecurities, and broader economic hardships.
Therefore, we continue to maintain, raise and distribute funds to assist our neighbors through the Elliot Park Neighbor Support Fund, with a highly aligned purpose and similar guidelines as the original Fund created in February 2026, in response to Operation Metro Surge.
Neighbors facing financial hardships affecting basic needs can apply for a grant by contacting EPNI by text/phone at 612-234-2280 or email, at [email protected].
The Elliot Park Neighbor Support Network provides direct, confidential aid to neighbors facing serious financial hardship. We connect neighbors who need help with neighbors who can give. Your donation covers food support, basic supplies and individual small grants for emergency financial support.
Any amount helps. Give what you can.

The Downtown Improvement District is working to make downtown an even better place to live, work, shop, and visit. To help guide those efforts, they're asking residents of downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods to complete a brief survey about their experiences and ideas for the future.
Your feedback will help inform decisions about downtown improvements, events, public spaces, safety, transportation, and other priorities that affect our neighborhood. Whether you've lived here for years or recently moved in, your perspective is valuable.
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete, and every response helps ensure that residents' voices are represented.

Here & Gone: Commemorating ICE Abductions in MN is a crowd-sourced archival project documenting the signs and artwork installed at sites of ICE abductions in Minnesota. Since Operation Metro Surge began in late 2025, Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) has detained at least 4,000 people in Minnesota.
In response, community members have commemorated these sites with art and homemade signage. These spontaneous memorials–often made of paper, pen, or paint–are vulnerable to time and weather.

Here & Gone aims to collect and map photos of these ephemeral memorials and organize them into a publicly available collection. The project seeks photo contributions of existing or past examples of how neighbors are marking sites of abductions across the state. Learn more, submit your photos, and explore the existing collection at our website: hereandgonemn.com.

Minnesotans Can Feel Confident in the Safety of Our Elections!
“As I said before the right to vote is the crown jewel of American Liberties, and we will not see
its luster diminished.” These were the words of President Ronald Reagan speaking to the nation on June 29, 1982 upon his signing of the 25-year extension of the Voting Rights Act. This act first became law in 1965 and required states to follow the 14th and 15th Amendments’ guarantee that the right to vote not be denied because of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
Our democracy is at its best when citizens across the United States cast their ballots during
election season. Whether the vote is for a school board member, state senator, or President of the United States, voting is our power to have our voices heard. We the people have the power to elect representatives to enact laws that match our needs and values.
State Laws Regulate Elections
Article 1, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to regulate “the times, places and manners of elections, though Congress can make or alter these regulations”… This means that the states run elections. When you cast your ballot at a polling place, the people working there are local government officials, your neighbors, friends, and family members hired to ensure a free, fair, and secure election where only registered U.S. citizens vote, and each vote is accurately counted.
While the federal government has passed laws like the Voting Rights Act to ensure greater
access to voting, it is the local government that administers the election process according to
the laws of each state. For example, some states, like Minnesota allow voter registration on
election day while other states require voters to register before election day. In Minnesota
local election officials in 87 counties administer elections following its state’s laws. Minnesota
State laws dictate how ballots are created, distributed, and safely stored. Its laws dictate how
ballot counting machines are purchased and tested before and after the elections to ensure
their accuracy. A comprehensive list of registered voters (voter rolls) is maintained by the
Minnesota’s Secretary of State office in collaboration with the counties.

Watch for signs of heat-related illness

It's been hot this week!
Young children, senior citizens and people who are sick or overweight are most vulnerable to heat-related illnesses during the summer heat. During extreme heat, your body works extra hard to maintain a normal temperature, which can lead to death.
When it’s hot, drink plenty of water, wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing, limit outdoor activities and exercise, and spend time in cooling centers or in air-conditioned buildings. Hennepin County maintains an interactive online map of places the public can go to get relief from the heat. These can help reduce your risk of heat-related illnesses.
Signs of heat exhaustion
-
Heavy sweating
-
Paleness
-
Muscle cramps
-
Fatigue
-
Fast or weak pulse, dizziness, headache, fainting, nausea, and vomiting.
Signs of heat stroke
-
Extremely high body temperature (above 103 degrees F)
-
Red, hot and dry skin with no sweat
-
Rapid, strong pulse
-
-
Dizziness, confusion or unconsciousness
